A group of hotels and casinos in Atlantic City are planning to attract new players by providing an easier way to reach their premises: a direct train from New York City. The group expects this train to bring gamblers who usually use other means of transport, such as buses, limos and private jets.

This new service will make a limited number of stops, to be determined by the casino industry together with traffic authorities in New Jersey. The town’s traffic division has scheduled a meeting in order to analyze the proposal of this direct train service connecting Atlantic City and Penn Station in New York. The trip would take about two hours and a half.

“Casino owners believe that New York represents an outstanding market to be developed”, said Tom Carver, President of the Casino Association of New Jersey, a state office that would pay $4,5 million dollars for three years to hire the trains that will provide the service.
