Only formal complaints can act against Slots

The only way to stop slot machines from their more and more frequent appearance in groceries and other shops is to present formal complaints to the Government Secretary (Segob), according to Genaro Almeida Pérez, representative of that State Office.

He added that, in Chihuahua city, at least 400 machines have been detected thanks to citizens who have indicated sites where they were located. Those who own them receive up to 400 pesos a day in earnings.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which will award 14 slot-machine parlor licenses across the state, began accepting applications for some slots.

The Gaming Control Board posted applications for Category 2 and Category 3 gaming facilities on its Web site www.pgcb.state.pa.us.

Category 2 slots are the stand-alone sites, most likely casinos yet to be constructed.

The Massachusetts Senate overwhelmingly approved legislation to establish slot machine gambling at the state's four struggling racetracks, marking the first time in Beacon Hill history that such a measure has passed either branch of the Legislature.
